STRIVE Prep students utilized their summer break to grow as athletes and teammates through sports camps for basketball and volleyball.
Athletes worked on technique and skills and played a few friendly matches against each other, but this wasn’t the only thing they were building – summer sports camp is a great place for team bonding as well.
“Camp has been fun, it was a jump back into the season for sure, but it’s important because it’s a place where you can build better chemistry with your teammates before the season starts,” said volleyball player Jazmin Ibarra, who will be a senior at STRIVE Prep – SMART Academy in the upcoming school year.
Meanwhile, in Far Northeast Denver, scholars from STRIVE Prep schools in the region (Green Valley Ranch, Montbello and RISE) came together with girls from KIPP Northeast Denver Leadership Academy to practice their volleyball skills as well. Check out photos of them practicing approaches and techniques below.
We can’t wait to see how attending the sports camps helps our scholars thrive on and off the courts this fall!
