"The STRIVE Prep community means everything to me because I am a product of this community. It’s very empowering and I’m proud to give back to a community that raised me to become the educator I am today."
— Leah Andrews-Willis, Teacher at STRIVE Prep - Montbello
We believe that transforming communities begins in the classroom, where dedicated and exceptional teachers are needed to guide our scholars on their path to college. STRIVE Prep is looking for aspiring middle and high school teachers to add to our network of Denver change-makers, including recent college grads and career changers (no previous classroom experience required), to be part of the STRIVE Prep Teacher Residency – our prestigious, paid, two-year program that allows Residents to enter the teaching profession through a supportive and gradual on-ramp.
Residents selected will spend their first year learning from their Resident Adviser, an experienced STRIVE Prep teacher, who will provide them with supervised practice, regular performance feedback and gradually increasing classroom responsibilities as they earn their Colorado Initial Teaching License. In their second year of the program, Residents become full-time STRIVE Prep teachers. During both years of the program, Residents enroll as graduate students at the Relay Graduate School of Education (GSE) and upon the successful completion of the second year, will earn their Master’s of Arts in Teaching.
Changing lives is no easy job, that’s why STRIVE Prep will offer our Residents a competitive salary and benefits package for both years of the program.
Through our partnership with the Relay Graduate School of Education, Resident tuition will be supplemented with an estimated $28,500 in stipends and scholarships, allowing them to earn a Master’s degree from an accredited institution for less than $7,000 out of pocket.
STRIVE Prep’s talent team will review cover letters and resumes looking for mission-driven applicants who are excited about and committed to a career in teaching at STRIVE Prep. Materials can be submitted through the application link at the bottom of this page. Although no prior teaching experience is required to be a Resident, make sure to highlight any credentials or experience that would be valuable to the job.
Candidates who are invited to the second step of the application process will participate in a digital interview, allowing us to get to know you better through a series of informal, program-specific questions.
The final step of the interview process is an invitation to an in-person interview at one of our campuses. Interviews will take place in the weeks following our three application deadlines. During the interview, candidates will teach a sample mini-lesson, meet campus staff, observe classrooms, and talk with students and teachers.
Offers will be extended on a rolling basis, following the group interview days. Once a candidate accepts the offer, he/she will be matched with one of our ten middle or high school campuses and a Resident Adviser, based on content area, grade level, and campus preference. Residents will join the network as full-time, salaried employees in July 2017.
