Teacher Residency

“Seeing my Teacher Resident in a reduced role at the start of the year, slowly learning and growing, and then watching her thrive and have complete independent mastery over the classroom at the end of the year was amazing. I wish every new teacher had this opportunity.”

What to Expect

Year 1

Residents selected will spend their first year learning from their Resident Adviser, an experienced STRIVE Prep teacher, who will provide supervised practice, regular performance feedback and gradually increased classroom responsibilities as residents earn their Colorado Initial Teaching License.

Year 2

Residents become full-time STRIVE Prep teachers. During both years of the program, Residents enroll as graduate students at the Relay Graduate School of Education (GSE) and upon the successful completion of the second year, will earn their Master’s of Arts in Teaching.

Through our partnership with the Relay Graduate School of Education, Resident tuition will be supplemented with an estimated $28,500 in scholarships and Americorps rewards, allowing them to earn a Master’s degree from an accredited institution for less than $7,000 out of pocket. Federal financial aid is available to eligible Residents to help cover out of pocket expenses.
